We are looking for an R&D Director for our Ultracapacitors Division.

This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary. The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a technical team of 3-6 people in the execution of the company's strategy to bring new products to market.
  • Effectively manage open-ended and complex product development projects
  • Make data driven decisions, develop and diligently pursue risk management plans
  • Make effective reports to the company with timely updates of progress and risks as they develop
  • Interface with vendors and service providers to prove processes and align suppliers for scale-up to manufacture.
  • Practice diligence in design documentation and product qualification
  • Work in a SCRUM or Agile environment

Job Requirements

  • Phd or Msc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material science or a related field
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in bringing innovative technology to market
  • Relevant experience in ultracapacitor and li-ion battery technologies
  • Relevant experience in electrode manufacturing processes
  • Relevant experience in design for manufacture of dispersion, compounding, and coating processes
  • Relevant experience in electrochemistry, in particular in non-acqeous electrolytes and ionic liquid
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment where your success may be critical path to the company achieving its goals
  • Experience working in a SCRUM environment is a plus

We offer a total estimated compensation package of $154,700 - $209,300 (comprised of a base salary of $119,000 - $161,000 + up to 30% potential bonus based on meeting divisional and company KPIs which is paid out quarterly.) We offer health, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, 401k, and three weeks of paid time off plus one week for year-end vacation.
